Movie- night out
Last night we got a rare date night and decided to see this movie. We were a little annoyed before we even got into the theater itself. We went to our usual theater, Coquitlam SilverCity, where we are still getting used their recent renovations. I do like it, as the lobby is more open and there is more space to line up for the tickets and food. The new thing is a VIP19+ theater. We were a little put-off that the movie of choice was ONLY playing in the VIP theater, which had an extra $7 charge. The supposed benefit of these 2 theaters is that it is adult only, there is a lounge before you go to the movie itself where you can get liquor, the seats are supposedly bigger and do recline slightly and the bathroom is individual instead of stalls. Also you can get popcorn delivered to your seat like a restaurant type thing... It just seems like an over priced "benefit".
Now for the movie. I have read the book. It is a good thing that I read the book because the plot is a bit convoluted with cuts back and forth to the 2 main characters explaining where they have been before their story lines merge. It was also graphically violent with a few rape scenes and violence.
I didn't realize that there would be such a star cast with Daniel Craig, Robin Wright (known for her role as Princess Bride. It is 25 years old this year!), Christopher Plummer and Joely Richardson, but it was (new to me) newcomer Rooney Mara who rocked the plot. She played her role of an off-kilter woman very very well.
Going to this movie has inspired me to go find the rest of the books in the series.
