It is rare that I can get my husband to not work on a stat Monday. This past weekend, despite a request for volunteers, my husband declined to work due to our anniversary. I suppose it can be weighed this way "wrath of boss" or "wrath of wife"... which would you rather avoid? Hmm ...

So we drove to the Island to spend the weekend at Uclulet, BC. This location was recommended by a friend, and the B&B was fabulous. It was a loft. A self contained suite with hardwood floor, double sided fireplace, double soaker tub, heated floors, and mini fridge.

After waiting 4 hours to get on the ferry, we were off. On the way down from Nanaimo to Ucluelet, we stopped at MacMillian Park and wandered through the "Old Growth Trail" of the "Cathedral Grove". I thought my husband was tall!! Man, these trees were huge!! and very old. I loved the colors.. very rich hues of browns and greens. Very peaceful.

Even though we left 31+ weather on the mainland of BC, it was not as hot on the Island. When we got to Ucluelet, it was actually overcast and foggy in places. We ended up in the Pacific Rim National Park where we wandered Wickaninnish beach on a very windy, foggy day ending it in Tofino. We went to Tough City Sushi with its wacky, disorganized decor. The view from the window (of the fog rolling in and out of the Bay) was fabulous, the service not so great and the food overpriced! Despite these glitches, it was a lovely time.
